Veda Samrakshana and Gow Samarakshana(saving cows) are the two eyes of Hindu Dharma. Welfare of the entire world depends on the yagnya karma anushtanams perfomed in India. The entire world exists because of yagnya. Two things are necessary for yagnya. one is the “karta” of yagnyam and the other is the “cow” which gives all the dravyas used in the yagnya. Therefore, without the cow there is no yagnya. And if there is no yagnya there is no Viswa Santhi.

All the main ingredients used in yagnya – milk, ghee, curd, cowdung cake are all products from the cow. Hence without the products, yagnya cannot be complete and fruitful. Unfortunately, all the products used currently in yagnya are not pure as they are not from native cow breeds. Therefore, there is an urgent need to focus our attention, in a big way, on Gow Samrakshana of native Indian breed cows.

During the last few decades, due to urbanization, mechanization of farming, use of chemical fertilizers, emphasis on high milk yielding foreign breeds, (which cannot be considered as cows), the dependence on cows as the base of our agriculture has reduced drastically. Absence of manpower at the village level and loss of grazing lands added to the problems and our native breed of cows has come down alarmingly.

Time to act now

In earlier days, all most all houses had cows and Gow seva was an essential part of life. Though not forgotten completely, Gow seva is being performed only occasionally. If this trend continues, there is a danger that Gowseva may vanish from our list of duties and our future generations may not even know about this sacred duty. Most of our children, especially in the urban areas, may not have even seen a calf. In current times it is not possible to have a cow at home. It has therefore become imperative that we create and sustain the interest in Gow seva among the people of the current and future generations. There is a need to establish Gow Kshetram (Gow shala) where cows can be maintained in a good environment.

Sree Maatha Pitru Gow Kshetram

Since then he is championing the cause of protecting and increasing the number of Indian cows (Gow maathas). Apart from his own involvement in Gow Seva, he also inspiring his disciples to follow the dharma by serving Gow Maatha.
